Rebecca Scott T47 won her category of the Para 60m at the UK Indoor Championships in Birmingham over the weekend in a time of 8.84 PB. She then got to run there again this weekend in the Indoor Tour FInals.
Competing for the Great Britain U20 team today in Madrid, Jess Astill was part of the Hunter Relay team that finished the match. Up against teams from Spain, Portugal, France, Czech Republic and Ireland, going into the last event Great Britain were leading with the Czech team in second. A resounding victory in the relay saw Great Britain finish first with the Czech team second and Spain third.
Currently running at North Herts Museum in Hitchin is an exhibition celebrating Disability Sports and sporting personalities from North Herts. A large section of the exhibition is given over to Athletics. There are wall displays featuring Jamie Burton, Marie Verdeille and Rebecca Scott. Cabinets feature photographs and information about past development events at the track. The exhibition runs until the 26th March and is well worth a visit.
Twenty one Club members were in action at the last Chiltern League of the season held at Keysoe. For those athletes who enjoy running through water Keysoe features a ‘water splash’ as part of the course. There were top three places in Division 2 on the day for U13 Girls Eleanor Roberts and Hazel Spitzer finishing first and third in their 3.2k race, Abigail Manson finished 2nd in the U17 5.2k race and U15 Boy Aubrey Murray finished 2nd in his 4.1k race. The U13 Girls were first, U17 Girls and U15 Boys Second and U17 and U13 Boys third on the day.
Medals were presented for individual and team success over the 5 match series which started in October. Senior Women Chris Feely, U17 Abigail Manson and U13 Hazel Spitzer were 1st in their age groups, while U15 Aubrey Murray and U13 Eleanor Roberts finished 2nd. There was team success for the U17 Boys and U13 Girls, both first, the U15 Boys and U17 Girls finished second and the U13 Boys were third.

Three SNHAC athletes were in action at the England Athletics Age Group Indoor Championships in Sheffield over the weekend. U20’s Jess Astill and Annabel Howells competed in the 400m while Jamie Joseph was in action in the 60m. Jamie recorded 7.27 in his heat of the 60m and Annabel 60.06 in her heat of the 400m. Jess was second in her heat of the 400m (55.87) and went on to run 55.42 in the final for third spot. This performance has earned her a place in the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team in the DNA U20 Indoor Meeting in Madrid this coming weekend. Jess will be taking part in the Hunter Relay.
